Gear Partner · Since 1999

Different by design.

Founded in 1999 in the Columbia River Gorge and still headquartered in Hood River, Oregon. Brothers Jeff and Tony Logosz built the brand from the ground up — Jeff as CEO, Tony as chief designer — and spent two decades introducing design features that became industry norms, from the One‑Pump system to SplitStrut canopies. Today Slingshot is the world's largest hydrofoil manufacturer, though kite remains its primary focus.

Performance / Reliability / Evolution

The next evolution of the world's first rider-designed New School Big Air kite, built by GKA World Champion Jeremy Burlando and refined with designer Adi Conrad. Slingshot's ride guide describes a kite that “doesn't just react — it communicates.” Burlando calls it the “Silent Killa,” because it speaks through feel, not force.

  • 20% faster loops via a redesigned CODE95 trailing edge and minimized drag
  • Aluula laminate airframe — stiffer, lighter, holds shape under extreme load
  • 7-point fixed bridle — no pulleys, pure feel, stable when overpowered

Welcome

Waist-deep, bathtub-warm, and blowing most of the season — the lagoon does half the teaching. Two coaches, four disciplines, never more than two students per instructor. Mikey and Tom take it from here.

The spot

Our home water is flat, warm, and shallow — the ideal classroom for fast, safe progression, and a launch point for safaris when you are ready to roam.

Personal

Every lesson — private or small group of three — I'm the one teaching. Same coach from your first wind-theory chat to your first transition. Sessions run in Spanish, English, French, or Portuguese.

Name the move and we build the ladder to it — big air, rotations, board-offs, unhooked. We film every attempt, break it down between sessions, and rebuild it until it sticks.

Gear Partner · Originators of the hard shell

Science you can feel.

Founded in Santa Cruz and now run out of Hood River, Oregon, as a Slingshot Sports company — the two brands share one address and one engineering bench. Ride Engine revolutionized wind-sport harnesses with the data-driven invention of the hard-shell design, launching three refined Armor harnesses internationally in 2015 and a full wetsuit line the same season.

Lumbar Lock & Hyperlock

Biometric shaping / Curv® composite / no water absorption

Ride Engine's Curv® composite isn't merely lightweight — its high tensile strength lets the shell hold the scientifically designed Lumbar Lock shape, which the brand credits with eliminating harness rise and twisting on the body. The Hyperlock spreader-bar system replaces the traditional webbing connection with patented ratchets, tested over six years.

  • Curv® hard shell — molded composite that distributes harness line tension evenly
  • Cell-Lock foam — thermoformed, Lycra-laminated, virtually zero water absorption
  • Elite Carbon Type 1 — 12K carbon STEP-2 shell, stiffest flex in the line, 1 kg at medium
  • Full range — waist, seat, chest and wing-foil specific fits

Wake Up. Rig Up. Repeat.

Immersive multi-day camps and downwind safaris — morning sessions, afternoon theory, evenings by the water. Small groups, big progress.

First-light water time

We launch when the lagoon is glass and the wind is cleanest — three coached hours before lunch, every day.

Filmed & reviewed

Your sessions get filmed. Evening breakdowns show you exactly what to change tomorrow.

Max 3 per instructor

Semi-private by design. You are never waiting on the beach while someone else rides.

Sleep at the launch

Private room steps from flat, warm, waist-deep water. Wake up, look at the palms, rig up.

Sessions, Unfiltered

What to Expect

A rough day-by-day breakdown of a beginner course. Every rider moves at their own pace — these are the kinds of skills you'll work on, not a checklist of what you'll finish.
